| Description | Journal: Physics World An influential group of senior industrialists and researchers has increased pressure on the Bush administration to boost funding for engineering and the physical sciences. In a draft letter released last month, the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) recommends that the US research and development budget should "be adjusted upward for the physical sciences and engineering, bringing them collectively to parity with the life sciences over the next five budget cycles". The 23 members of PCAST are appointed by the Presidential Office of Science and Technology Policy. |
