| Description | Journal: Physics World British research received a boost last month when the government announced that it will increase its annual spending on science by more than £1bn over the next three years. This rise, part of the government's biennial spending review, is the first stage of a 10 year plan to bring the country's research funding in line with that of other wealthy nations. It will be used to rebuild crumbling university laboratories, improve links between academia and industry, and increase support for school science teaching. However, it is unlikely to lead to any substantial new funding for research grants. |
