Description	Journal: Physics World Dieter Hoflinann's review of my book Heisenberg and the Nazi Atomic Bomb Project: A Study in German Culture March PP41–42) is long on clumsy personal abuse but somewhat short on accurate technical discussion of the extensive scientific analysis in the book. Instead of discussing the scientific arguments that I adduced to demonstrate Heisenberg's mistaken conception of the principles of an atomic bomb – in particular his belief that the critical mass required for a uranium-235 bomb would be in the range of tons of uranium-235 rather than kilograms – Hoffinann misleadingly remarked that "if you read Heisenberg's Collected Papers (Springer 1989)...you come to a quite different conclusion".
