| Description | Journal: Journal of Physics F: Metal Physics It is shown that the course of the precipitation of tin from Pb-8% Sn alloy can be followed by measuring the centre shift and the Mossbauer factor, f, of a suitable foil. The authors find that on cooling from a temperature 520 K where all the tin is in solution, precipitation occurs in the temperature range 360-320 K. The concentration of tin in the metastable state is then 6.7+or-0.2%. On raising the temperature of the cooled specimen from room temperature, solution starts at 360 K. After rolling the foil at room temperature, the concentration of tin in solution is 2.0+or-0.6%. No precipitation could be observed in Cu-5% Sn. |
