Description	Journal: Journal of Physics E: Scientific Instruments Improved transmission of a hemispherical monochromator is demonstrated by using an electron gun which incorporates a mirror lens to predisperse the incident electron beam. The apparatus described can be used to study surface or gas-phase collision processes.
