| Description | Journal: Physics World The title of this handbook contains two words – science and communication – that can mean almost anything to the casual reader. But basically this is a short treatise that seeks to help the average science student or academic to communicate more effectively, by providing a distillation of good and bad practice in the different areas of scientific discourse. Nowadays we "facilitators" in the academic physics community are expected (in the words of the spin-doctors) to "stay on message" as far as the skills debate is concerned. In other words, we should actively encourage our students to improve their transferable skills – of which the prime, overarching one is, of course, the art of communication. |
