Description	Journal: Nordic Journal of Psychiatry The Institute of Psychotherapy has a central role in educating psychotherapists and supervisors- The programme comprises a 2-year introductory course and a 2-year advanced course. The participants are required to practise psychotherapy under supervision during the course, and training analysis is compulsory for participation on the advanced course. Altogether, 102 medical doctors have completed the full training. There has been a steady increase in seminar activity, and during the last 7 years seven advanced courses have been arranged outside the Oslo area, with a substantial increase of psychotherapeutic competence in different regions as a consequence.
