| Description | The tensile test specimen has generally the shape of dumbbell as presented in ASTM D638 or ISO 527-2 standards. There are two common types of tension testing equipment: (a) hydraulic Instron testing machine and (b) spilt Hopkinson bar apparatus. At low-tomedium strain rate (up to 102 s−1) (Shokrieh and Omidi 2011), hydraulic Instron testing machine is suitable, whereas spilt Hopkinson bar apparatus is designed for high strain rate (102-104 s−1) (Wang and Sun 2008).
