| Description | This chapter is concerned primarily on the mechanical properties of polymeric materials under high strain rate loading using an established dynamic testing apparatus, namely SHPB. It also covers some fundamental concepts of the SHPB technique, including its history, development, challenges, and solutions on polymeric specimens. The purpose of this chapter is also to describe and, when possible, to explain the effect of strain rates toward the mechanical proportions of various polymeric specimens. For the numerical approach, three material-constant constitutive equations are discussed to take into account the characteristics of strain rate sensitivity of polymeric materials at very high strain rates.
