| Description | Job stress is a significant problem in manufacturing and service companies, especially hospitals. One effort made by companies to reduce the level of job stress among employees is to improve the work environment and individual characteristics. The present study used a descriptive analysis technique. The explanatory survey consisted of 73 respondents and data were collected through the questionnaires. Data analysis in the study used multiple linear regression analyses. The findings show how important the work environment of a company is. However, weaknesses in the physical work environment, such as an inadequate working room temperature, and weaknesses such as in the nurses' knowledge contribute to job stress. Other findings show that the job stress experienced by nurses is quite high, particularly with regard to workload. Influence of the work environment on job stress amounts to 40.20%, while individual characteristics amount to 32.72%. If work environment, and if individual characteristics among nurses lead to an increase in the absenteeism level, this will result in a decrease in the productivity level, tolerance, and performance.
