| Description | Attack of carrot fly (Psila rosae) occur every year in carrot growing areas in Denmark. To minimize use of insecticides growers need to have information on risk of attack. For that purpose yellow sticky traps have been used to monitor the addult carrot fly. Earlier experiments have shown relationship between catches of flies, number of eggs round carrot plants and damage later in the season. But no damage threshold has been established. To improve the value of yellow sticky traps efforts has been made to increase catches and to make the trapping system more selective. Some progress has been made, by sheltering the traps, but further development is needed. Book Name: Progress on Pest Management in Field Vegetables |
