| Description | Historic concrete buildings are usually exposed to a wide range of contaminants, such as particulate matter and other components like organic and elemental carbon, and nitrogen oxides; which lead to aesthetical and structural damages. A promising approach to mitigate the deleterious effects of these contaminants is the application of photocatalytic self-cleaning treatments, such as $TiO_{2}$-based products. In the present work we investigate the photocatalytic performance under visible light of coatings containing $TiO_{2}$ modified by gold nanoparticles on concrete samples. The treatments were effective for the degradation of the dye methylene blue and for soot. Book Name: Conserving Cultural Heritage |
