| Description | $HiSS-δ_{1-unsat}$ model is a general elasto-plastic constitutive model for saturated and unsaturated soils including undrained paths and damage effects. This model uses saturated effective stress $(σ'=σ−u_{w}$) and matric suction (s= $u_{a}-u_{w}$) as two independent stress state variables. In this paper, numerical simulations are presented, making use of experimental results obtained by Maâtouk (1993) and Sivakumar (1993) on unsaturated silt and kaolin. These two materials have been prepared and desaturated by different procedures. After a brief review of the experimental results, the determination of the constitutive parameters of the model is explained. All constitutive parameters could be obtained from the existing isotropic and shear tests. The comparison between numerical simulation and experimental data shows the capacity of the $HiSS-δ_{1-unsat}$ model. Book Name: Unsaturated Soils for Asia |
