| Description | Nearly half of the area of Odisha state of India is covered with forest. The forest patches of Kendujhar district located towards the northern part of Odisha, India, harbors wide varieties of medicinal plants. They play an important role in the lives of rural and tribal people for various purposes. They are used for their food values as well as medicinal properties and other household activities. Hence, an effort was made for documenting the ethnomedicinal values of the most threatened plant's species available in some selected areas of Kendujhar district of Odisha state. Field survey revealed that among the threatened species, 9 wild species which are available in the forest patches of the district having potent food and medicinal values are more threatened. This chapter also highlights the sustainable harvesting and the chemical constituents of the plants and their relationship with the curing properties.
