Description	Journal: Research Evaluation The results are presented of an analysis of the publications by Estonian historians in the 1990s. The analysis draws on the database which includes more than 10,000 citations from papers on history published in Estonia in this period. Scientometric analysis is closely connected with the historical context and regional peculiarities. The paper focuses on the dependence of cited literature on the historical period under observation and the potential of various information carriers (monographs, serials, collections of papers) in the application of scientific information, that is, the proportion of citations from the papers in them. It concludes that the age of cited literature and the use of the language depends on the period under investigation.
