| Description | Now, one of the most pressing environmental problems all around the world is construction waste, such as the demolition of used bridges or temporary bridges, spurring the design of more environmentally-friendly bridges. In this paper, a new kind of design method for bridge is introduced with total life-cycle design (sustainable design). The method tries to disassemble the old bridge according to the pre-designed path, which means, it should be taken into consideration that bridge structures have the functions of disassembly and reuse (or degradation) after reassembly, at the beginning of the bridge design. And in this paper, several examples of the superstructure and the substructure are performed, verifying the practicability and feasibility of the disassembled bridge. This kind of life-cycle design method for bridge engineering will strike a balance between economic considerations and environmental impact with assembly-disassembly design.
