| Description | Networking Latin America: The new role of art collectors and transnational actors expands the exploration to an analysis of the strategies and mechanisms applied to connect Lima's art scene with Latin America as well as with the United States and Europe. The chapter looks at how the participation of Latin American art agents at leading art venues has grown since the mid-2000s and focuses on the role of Peruvian stakeholders in Latin American, and on Peruvian art in larger art platforms. I explain how the networking of Latin America and its internationalisation of art is not a new enterprise. I define four key moments, extending the analysis of the last of these, which I describe as one of transnational participation. I show how this moment includes the participation of Latin American collectors as trustees on leading museum's boards; the making of transnational curators; and the rise of art fairs in the region.
