| Description | When you regularly track with your horse, it has a great many advantages. The list in section 1.3 also applies to tracking, with a few small differences. These mostly flow from the fact that, in exploration and empowerment, multiple objects can be investigated with the sense of sight, smell, sound, and touch, and tracking mostly involves a single activity: the turning on and intense use of the nose. Of course, the horse can look at, hear, and feel environmental factors while he is tracking. For instance, he can walk and stand on different surfaces, step over obstacles, hear ambient noise, and look around at his surroundings. However, discovering objects is not as central to tracking as it is to exploration and empowerment. Tracking does have a few specific benefits though that are of great value. After reading about these benefits, you will understand why I am so enthusiastic about combining both disciplines. Book Name: Scentwork for Horses |
