| Description | This chapter discusses the work involved in setting up, running and presenting results for the two benchmark vehicles for the various track cases specified. Accordingly, the various files required for these vehicles could be generated by editing files previously created for similar vehicles. This is the normal process used with NUCARS to model a new vehicle. It is almost never necessary to start from scratch. The computer program that generates the wheel/rail geometry table takes a fraction of a second to run. In NUCARS, track geometry has two components. The first represents what is considered to be the design track geometry. This consists of the superelevation and curvature of any curves on the route or any angular deviations associated with special track work. The second component of the track geometry consists of any perturbations that are present. Book Name: The Manchester Benchmarks for Rail Vehicle Simulation |
