Description	A lot of new techniques have been developed to understand the assessment, utilization, and management of water resources. This chapter aims at understanding the possible development in locating groundwater as well as its quality studies and also targeting the sources of groundwater contamination and their remedial measures. To locate groundwater accurately and to determine the depth, quantity, and quality of the water, several techniques must be used, and possible locations must be tested and studied to identify the hydrologic and geologic features; those are important for study, planning, and management of the resource. The analysis of aerial photographs or satellite imagery is recommended prior to ground surveys and fieldwork because it may eliminate areas of potentially low water-bearing strata and may also indicate promising areas for intensive field investigations. The delineate potentiality of the groundwater the various constraint of thematics are considered and depending on the suitability different rank and weightage are assigned.
