Description	With increasing concern about the environmental and social impacts of economic development, there are initiatives from businesses to integrate sustainability into their long-term strategy. A balance needs to be struck between adjusting existing practices to become more sustainable and ensuring the changes make good business sense such as new-product development, new markets, resources efficiency, and reputation building. Sustainability tends to be understood in most companies as the management of environmental issues such as greenhouse gas emissions, energy efficiency, and waste management. But sustainability should also include the management of governance issues (such as complying with regulations, maintaining ethical practices, and meeting accepted industry standards), and also the management of social issues (for instance, working conditions and labor standards).
