| Description | What is virtualization? Virtualization technology can be traced back to the early 1960s. It only thrives after the x86 CPU enters the multi-core era. Virtualization is the abstract logical resource presented to the workload, and it provides a virtualization layer on physical platform resources such as CPU, memory, and I/O. Virtualization can divide the physical resource into multiple partitions. In essence, virtualization enables multiple workloads to share a set of resources (such as a server). The workload can be migrated to other hardware platform, and as the virtualization is based on software abstraction layer, it decouples the dependency on the underlying hardware platform.
