| Description | The frequency of heterotropia in paediatric aphakic patients is variable: 10–70%. The variability of the angle produces often a risk for overcorrection and makes difficult to take the surgical decision . Our purpose is to assess the results of the injection of botulinum toxin in both medial recti in strabismic aphakic patients. 10 consecutive paediatric patients with strabismus post aphakia were included. 7 were bilateral. Average age was 63 months. All of them were injected in both medial recti with botulinum toxin type A. Average follow up was 31 months after the last injection. Global success rate was 70%(average 1,55 treatments per patient. Successful outcome was considered ortho plus 10 PD. In our group of patients the injection of botulinum toxin seems to be a good alternative treatment for orthotropic outcome Book Name: 28th European Strabismological Association Meeting |
