| Description | Basing on long-term laboratory tests as well as on site tests carried out in hard coal mines of the Upper Silesian Coal Basin, the dependence between the seam stress and bearing capacity of the powered support has been proved. It was observed in longwall workings that changes in bearing capacity of the support effect in shifting the stress zone into the strata or towards the sidewall. The shift deeper into strata may be employed to eliminate the rockburst hazard. The shift towards the side-wall results in better cutting performance. The phenomenon was confirmed in several longwalls in “Staszic” mine, meeting different natural conditions. Book Name: Modelling of Mine Structures |
