| Abstract | Lifelong education (PSH) as a concept that underlies the community education profession is intended for all people who need it in the context of community empowerment in accordance with their needs and potential. The program for maintaining adult literacy is one of the efforts to achieve the target of increasing population literacy that has an effect on improving the education index as part of the Human Development Index (HDI) component. The purpose of this study is to (1) maintain and develop the literacy of students who have participated in and/or attain basic literacy competencies, (2) increase the ability of independent businesses to develop and realize the various potentials possessed by students, and (3) build business nodes independently oriented toward improving the standard of living of the community. This research used a descriptive method with quantitative and qualitative approaches. The participants of this study were 113 people, consisting of 13 PKBM managers and 100 participants or learning residents. The research locations were six groups of PKBM in Indramayu Regency, three districts of Cirebon Regency PKBM, and three groups of Subang Regency PKBM. Data collection techniques used were interviews, observation, documentation studies, and questionnaires as supporting data collectors. The findings of this study are: (1) There has been an increase in people’s ability to read, write, and count, due to the accuracy of the use of learning methods, learning materials according to the needs of the community, high motivation of participants to participate in entrepreneurship programs, and the role of speakers in the delivery of material; (2) Citizens learn to have knowledge, attitudes, and skills about entrepreneurship. In the aspect of knowledge an increase in understanding of entrepreneurial material, ways to make culinary products, simple bookkeeping methods, and ways of marketing. In the aspect of attitude, people learn to have an attitude of confidence, dare to start a business, be more open to the opinions of others, motivate each other between groups, and show increasing willingness to learn and try. In the aspect of skills, the residents learned skilfully to make fish-bone crackers and shredded fish; (3) The business nodes that were developed were making fish-bone crackers and shredded fish. |
