| Description | 30 patients with different diagnosis, mainly acute schizophrenic patients, were treated with Haloperidol in different doses ranging from 2–40 mg a/day. 10 patients with acute schizophrenia were treated with a fix dose (16 mg). Blood samples for assay of plasma Haloperiodol levels were collected once a week and after 4 weeks the ameliorations were evaluated. The inter-individual variation in plasma levels at the same dose was high. The therapeutic response, in agreement with earlier studies, indicated that a concentration of Haliperidol of about 10 ng/ml could be adequate in the treatment of acute psychotic schizophrenia. |
