A Survey of Fifth-Generation Cellular Communications Using MIMO for IoT Applications

Description	A Fifth Generation (5G) technique that is used in developing a popular Internet of Things (IoT) requires reconfigurable MIMO antenna, and it is also challengeable and interesting to know that the 5G mobile communication devices use MIMO/massive MIMO. A unique combination of reconfigurable MIMO antenna with IoT and 5G makes the system more efficient and improves the range of communication up to several Terahertz (THz). We surveyed that MIMO can increase the channel capacity widely by increasing more numbers of antennas at transmitter and receiver, by using spatial multiplexing, and by encountering multipath fading. The spatial multiplexing in MIMO can serve many terminals. This principle is used in the integration of various applications that use 5G and IoT technologies. IoT finds many applications in augmented reality, video streaming, smart cities, e-health monitoring, artificial intelligence(AI), machine and deep learning, and so on. These applications require huge data and higher bandwidth. In recent technology, 5G is the most promising and emerging technology as it has huge benefits in the IoT through the use of massive MIMO. This platform is expected to be easily accessible, very flexible, and provides a variety of cloud-based facilities. This chapter mainly focusses on various aspects of 5G along with MIMO antenna, IoT, and some of the important research directions in this domain.
