Description	Traditional herbal medicinal products and phytomedicines are products derived exclusively from plant material; in the raw form or processed and standardised pharmaceutical formulation. The establishment of standardised phytomedicines production procedures is highly needed. However, the definitions, requirements, scope, terminology, and even therapeutic indications of herbal medicines vary from country to country. Similarly, the approaches used to license, dispense, manufacture, and trade herbal medicines are not harmonised worldwide. Establishing a global harmonised regulation for herbal medicines is essential to produce standardised herbal products with the same safety, quality, and efficacy requirements to be accepted globally, contributing to the worldwide trading of these products. In Brazil, the regulation for herbal medicines development, production, use, and registration has evolved continuously and consistently. Efforts have also been directed to implement herbal medicines in the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS). In this chapter, the Brazilian know-how in constructing policies, technoscientific documents, and regulations for the development, registration, and use of herbal medicines was concisely examined. We believe that the information presented can serve as an excellent framework for harmonising the rules for regulating herbal medicines globally. Book Name: Phytotechnology
