Description | Zinc oxide (ZnO) has attracted considerable attention as a promising material for ultraviolet (UV) photonic devices such as light-emitting diodes and lasers. ZnO also has numerous applications in transparent electronics, piezoelectric devices, gas sensors, solar cells, spin electronics, etc. [1,2]. The large excitonic binding energy (60 meV) of ZnO suggests that it has excellent UV light emission properties. ZnO also has several other advantages: amenability to conventional wet chemical etching, relatively low material costs, long-term stability, environmental friendliness, biocompatibility, and excellent radiation resistance.
