| Description | Transitional legal frameworks have been widely applied to redress the legacies of human rights abuses. Crimes against humanity, for instance, marked the genesis for countries to implement transparent judicial, quasi-judicial or non-judicial measures with a view to moving from violent instability to living in peace under a stable rule of law. This chapter attempts to explore these issues. It provides a springboard for assessing the potential for transitional legal frameworks in the climate change context. The chapter moves beyond discussions about forced migration and adaptation in the climate change context and may add something new to the various accomplishments of others. Climate-induced migration en masse, or failure to respond to a climate-related disaster, could signal a failed international legal system. Restorative justice primarily aims to restore the situation before violation. If discrete normative solutions or single bodies of law are insufficient, then a hybrid composition may be valid.
