| Description | Practice education, including the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT) requirement of 1000 hours of professional practice and the use of simulation activities and project placements as part of the professional practice curriculum, are then discussed. Until 2012, both the baccalaureate and the master's level of entry to the profession were regarded as equally meeting educational accreditation standards in Australia. A fully accredited program means worldwide recognition of a high standard of occupational therapy education. WFOT has mandated 1000 hours of practice education as a requirement for all entry-level educational programs. Since occupational therapy education commenced, there have been many influences that have resulted in changes in the focus of practice education. Across Australia, practice education is evaluated using the Student Practice Evaluation Form—Revised Edition. The education of occupational therapy students in Australia is an important and ongoing issue. Book Name: Occupational Therapy in Australia |
