| Description | I begin this chapter with a question. When you have individual meetings with your direct reports, what's the agenda for these “one-on-ones”? Here's my guess based on my years of experience coaching leaders and leading teams in organizations. You probably address such things as your direct report's current projects, how her team is doing, how various projects fit into the wider organizational strategic plan, and identification of those employees who are “stars” as well as those who present specific performance challenges. However, these one-on-one meetings do not often address toxic behavior because many times the leader may not be aware of these behaviors because of the “knock down and kiss up” action. This chapter provides a method to discern these behaviors, along with a process for doing something about it. Book Name: Why I Don't Work Here Anymore |
