| Description | Ethnic and racial diversity continue to be on the rise in the United States. The 2010 U.S. Census will no doubt show once again that the United States is the most diverse nation in the world. Individuals from every nation in the world count the United States as their home country. As the extent of the diversity continues to expand, various organizations, including state and local governments, will need to ensure that their institutions are capable of communicating with, providing services to, and representing an increasingly diverse and linguistically different population. As the previous chapters have shown, the task at hand is not easy. However, becoming culturally competent will be the key to successful management as we move forward in the twenty-first century.
