Description	The title compd. (I) was prepd. from 1,6-octanediol (II) in a series of reactions. II was converted to Br(CH2)8OH, the latter was protected by dihydropyran, and the product was treated with LiC≡CH·H2NCH2CH2NH2 to give O-protected HC≡C(CH2)8OH (III).
