| Description | Studies of changes in leukocyte alkaline phosphatase (LAP) in a patient with chronic granulocytic leukemia (CGL) following infection and pyrogenic stimulation revealed that increased LAP appeared in circulating mature neutrophilic forms 24 hours later than in similar cells of the marrow, suggesting that the cells containing increased LAP originated in the marrow. It was reasoned that the LAP responsiveness in CGL probably requires the presence of foci of normal myeloid tissue. |
