Abstract	Cette dernière décennie, les tarifs du haut débit n’ont pas cessé de chuter dans l’ensemble de la zone OCDE, alors même que le débit lui-même augmentait. La plupart des pays de l’OCDE ont au moins un opérateur qui propose de manière active des connexions haut débit à base de fibre optique – limitées toutefois, parfois, à certaines zones géographiques. La FTTH (fibre jusqu’à l’abonné) et la FTTB (fibre jusqu’à l’immeuble) permettent par ailleurs la symétrie des débits de transfert ascendant et descendant, ce qui ouvre la voie à de nouvelles fonctionnalités et à l’utilisation améliorée de toute une palette d’activités en ligne : partage d’images, visioconférence, transfert de contenus sur des sites sociaux, etc.
