Abstract	La grippe est une maladie infectieuse courante qui touche 5 %-10 % des adultes et 20 %-30 % des enfants. On estime de trois à cinq millions le nombre de cas de maladies graves liées à la grippe dans le monde chaque année, et de 250 000 à 500 000 le nombre de décès (OMS, 2014). La grippe peut également avoir un impact majeur sur les systèmes de soins de santé. Aux États-Unis, on estime que plus de 200 000 personnes sont hospitalisées chaque année pour des maladies respiratoires et cardiaques liées à des infections saisonnières par le virus de la grippe (Thompson et al., 2004). À certains moments de l’année, la grippe peut mettre les systèmes de santé en grande difficulté. Dans l’Ontario (Canada) par exemple, le taux moyen annuel des consultations aux services d’urgence imputables à une grippe saisonnière est de 500 pour 100 000 habitants. Ce taux a augmenté à un chiffre estimé de 2 000 pour 100 000 habitants pendant la pandémie de H1N1 en 2009 (Schanzer et al., 2013).
