Abstract	Depuis de nombreuses années, l’actionnariat public est relativement étendu en Suède, même dans des secteurs où, traditionnellement, des entreprises privées opèrent dans les conditions du marché. Récemment toutefois, la privatisation a été inscrite parmi les priorités de l’action publique. Les données tirées de l’expérience montrent que la privatisation se traduit par une amélioration des performances des entreprises et une accélération de la productivité. Cela étant, les avantages qui en découlent dépendent d’une intensification de la concurrence : la privatisation n’est pas une condition suffisante. Les auteurs du présent chapitre passent ces éléments en revue et examinent quelles sont les mesures qu’il conviendra de prendre ensuite. La récente tourmente sur les marchés de capitaux exigera peut-être le report de certaines opérations, mais d’une manière générale la privatisation devrait se poursuivre. Une fois la première vague de cessions achevée, il faudra combiner poursuite des privatisations et libéralisation du marché tout en étudiant d’autres méthodes permettant d’assurer le soutien des pouvoirs publics en cas de défaillance du marché ou bien dans les domaines où des objectifs sociaux restent d’actualité.
