Abstract	Les structures familiales changent, de même que l’âge relatif des parents. Les hommes et les femmes sont de plus en plus nombreux à attendre plus longtemps pour fonder une famille, et ce pour diverses raisons, notamment pour s’assurer une plus grande sécurité financière, avoir plus de maturité affective, prendre le temps d’établir une relation stable et s’investir dans leur carrière avant de songer à avoir des enfants. Comme les parents d’aujourd’hui sont également plus susceptibles de travailler, il faut de plus en plus de services d’accueil des jeunes enfants. De surcroît, l’on s’accorde de plus en plus à reconnaître le rôle clé que l’éducation préprimaire joue dans le développement cognitif et affectif des enfants. C’est pourquoi l’accessibilité et la qualité de l’éducation et de l’accueil des jeunes enfants sont devenues une priorité dans de nombreux pays.
