| Abstract | In this paper a method is proposed to segment the board in Snooker games automatically. The algorithm involves the following steps: first, separable second derivative of Guassian steerable filters, which are linear combination of basis filters and can implement filtering with variant direction, are used to extract the edges in both horizontal and vertical directions. The input image f(x,y) is convolved with every base filter, then weighted the summation of outputs of all the base filter, the resulted image g(x,y) can be obtained. Second, the candidate board regions are extracted by color segmentation. After image dilation, which can make the points which are around the background merge to the objects, it is helpful that extracting the edge pixels exactly. And next, the candidate edge pixels are extracted by both the peak value of edge pixel and the candidate board region. Finally, the true edge pixels can be obtained by curve fitting, and the board is segmented by the results of curve fitting. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
