Abstract	Present study is about free surface effects over shallowly immersed hydrofoil. Naca0012 hydrofoil at angle of attack 5 degree, Froude number of 0.5672 and Reynolds number of 1.7695e6 is studied using unsteady Reynolds average Navier-stokes code with a k-epsilon turbulence model and free surface volume of fluid (VOF) tracking method. Naca0012 hydrofoil is moved with various depths using moving mesh methodology. It is observed that lift and drag coefficient of hydrofoil increases as it approaches free surface. Computational results are validated with the experimental results of Duncan at a specified depth ratio. Numerical results showed good agreement with the experimental results.
