Abstract	According to the general theory of project life cycle, combined with the characteristics of IT project, this paper is committed to study the composition and division of IT project life cycle, which should be divided into three periods, namely IT project preparation period, IT project construction period and IT project operation period. On this basis, we analyze the work on various phases of IT project, such as set-up phase, design phase, implementation phase, operation& maintenance phase and so on. In the current high failure rate of IT project, the formulation of a scientific and rational IT project life cycle, added with clear work of various phases will be conducive to the implementation of IT project management and help to grasp the inherent law in order to improve the success rate of IT project.
