Abstract	There is pressure for improved performance, reduced weight and lower cost from both military and commercial market spaces. Both arenas are moving towards an IP-based control architecture, and new design must always be aimed and implementation with low-cost manufacturing techniques. There are numerous areas of technology overlap in both areas, and several specific areas of synergy were illustrated. In the future, commercial and military suppliers would best serve both market spaces by collaborating in the development of new technologies and materials. The former days of separate and different approaches to product development and manufacturing are gone, and if collaborative effort are set up properly, commercial and military supplier should succeed, and the stage is set for collaborative efforts well into the future.
