NDLI: ICONS 2006 Preface

Abstract	The 1st International Conference on Systems (ICONS) took place from April 27th to April 29th 2006 on in Mauritius Island. ICONS 2006 initiated a series of events covering a broad spectrum of topics. The conference covered fundamentals on designing, implementing, testing, validating and maintaining various kinds of software and hardware systems. Several tracks are proposed to treat the topics from theory to practice, in terms of methodologies, design, implementation, testing, use cases, tools, and lessons learnt. ICONS 2006 provided an international forum for discussions between researchers, practitioners and students interested in new developments targeting all the above areas. ICONS'2006 was organized by the IARIA organization with proceedings published by the IEEE Computer Society Press. For this year, more than 85 papers were submitted and reviewed by members of the technical program committee. 35 papers were finally accepted for presentation at the conference. We were very pleased to receive a large amount of top quality contributions. The accepted papers covered a wide range of networking related topics spanning from RFID, pipelined ADC and digital TV to IDS, TFT sensors and Universal Voltage Conveyors. We believe that the ICONS 2006 papers offered a large panel of solutions to key problems in all areas of systems and set challenging directions for industrial research and development.
