Abstract	A data management scheme for processing different types of queries in a mobile cellular environment is proposed. The proposed scheme is able to give a satisfactory answer to queries related to three different types of data, namely proximity of a desired object, private data and broadcast/public type data. All location dependent data are distributed among different components of a mobile cellular network in such a way that message exchange among themselves is much less and a query raised by a mobile unit can be answered satisfactorily. The file organisation to support the database is also proposed. Exhaustive simulation work has been done to study the performance of the system for getting a satisfactory answer to a query by varying different parameters like rate of query arrival time etc.
