Abstract | To reach phase transitions (both for the 1st and the 2nd types) only small temperature difference is required. The temperature changes are about fractions or units of degrees. A thermoelectric heat pump is an ideal instrument for a temperature management of an object for phase transition control, and gives a possibility to extract or to introduce very small quantities of heat. In the conditions of the thermoelectric control of phase transitions the coefficient of cooling and the heating coefficient can reach the values much more than 1. Three aspects discussed in the paper: 1. Possible physical problems that could be solved by the thermoelectric control of phase transitions. They are connected with changes of resistance, optical, magnetic and dielectric behaviors of materials (the 2nd type of phase transition) and with the changes of aggregative state of materials (the 1st type of phase transition). 2. The thermoelectric method as an instrument for investigation of material properties near the transition point. 3. Description of instrument for investigation of phase transition in ferroelectrics. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
