| Abstract | In the design of compleml systems, the performance of the system is often a very important design parameter. Performance requirements are defined in the early stages of the development cycle, and various steps can be taken in each development stage to ensure that the requirements are met. Systematic performance measurement is a key technique used by the SESS(V Telephone Switch project in the integration/system test stages to ensure control and to performance requirements. In fact, at certain stages of the development life-cycle, and for certain kinds of performance problems, systematic measurement is the only effective detection technique. for the past several years, the authors have been involved in improving process and techniques of measuring performance for Operations, Administration & Maintenance (OA&M) activities in the SESS Switch. This paper describes the, experience gained from this effort. Section 2 provides a brief overview of the SESS architecture, its development cycles, a model which is used for dealing with performance issues/problems in the and The challenges and problems in measuring performance OA&M activities. Section 3 describes the process and are used in QA&M performance measurements: approach and planning and scheduling; workloads and measurement control, and finally the measuring and analysis techniques. Section 4 discusses some of the experiences and Section 5 lists areas for future improvements. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
