| Abstract | LightSAR is a NASA initiative to develop a low-cost Earth-imaging radar satellite system that will return valuable science data, demonstrate advanced technologies, and inaugurate commercial radar imaging from space. The present LightSAR system design considers a two frequency SAR instrument operating in a fully polarimetric mode at L-band and in a dual polarimetric mode at X-band. The X-band sensor is an active phased array antenna consisting of several electrical panels and can operate in one of the following modes: spotlight mode with /spl plusmn/0.75/spl deg/ azimuth scan, ScanSAR mode with /spl plusmn/12.5/spl deg/ elevation scan, strip map mode with 20/spl deg/ to 55/spl deg/ incidence angle access range. A flight representative breadboard of such an electrical panel is currently developed within the DESA project funded by the German Space Agency (DLR). The dual polarised X-band SAR instrument requires 3341 W DC power and indicates a mass of 415 kg. Optionally, a single polarisation instrument can be designed which requires only 2080 W DC power and a mass of 385 kg. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
