Abstract	In this paper, a driving technology for a five-phase stepper motor is implemented using digital signal controller (dsPIC30F4011). The driving pulses driven by driver ICs controlling each phase of the stepper motor are provided by the controller which is programmed to obtain up to 1000 micro-steps. Fixed current control is used, where duty cycle is corrected every one sine wave period in order to reach desired current amplitude. The developed driving technology can be used for motion control between 1 and 60 rpm with increased resolution in micro-steps from full step to 1000 micro-steps in clock-wise and counter clock-wise direction. In this implementation, speed/position of the drive is sensed through position sensor. The winding current and the fixed current of the driver are verified using current sensors.
