Abstract | Imaging of human motion for different applications are becoming an interested area of biomedical research now a days. Therefore, several devices are already implemented for the purposes. However, maximum of those devices require many individual applicable accessories and transfer modes and thus the motion sensing equipment become complicated and extra burden to the applicants. Furthermore, most of the available motion sensors still need cable connections to the data transmission system although, very few wireless sensors are recently introducing with high costing. Particularly, for imaging the muscle activities of human body with EMG sensors for different human actions, several devices of sensors, connecting wires, data-logger etc. are necessary. All of these connections make extra obstacles in the experiment of human movements. Therefore, wireless sensing systems are demanded to invent. In the present paper a simple image processing technique by using a USB camera system has been explained for conducting the dynamic analysis of knee joint during its flexor-extensor effects. Particularly, the proposed imaging system is used in acquisition of angular position data of knee joint movements during standing and sitting conditions. The algorithm has been developed in the Intel Open Source Computer Vision Library (OpenCV) platform. The acquisition data of the proposed technique also compared with the goniometer system and found the reasonable acceptance of the proposed system. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
